Wolverton, Milton Keynes
February 2017
This is a rare environment in the UK, engineered recently as part of a 10 year gravel extraction project. It is a wildlife reserve run by the MK Parks Trust in the Ouse River valley between the West Coast mainline railway viaduct and the Iron Trunk aqueduct. With a mixture of established and newly-planted trees and shrubs it is flooded regularly by the overflowing Ouse: just as it would have been in centuries past.
